Our ambition is to open up the practice and knowledge of architecture and its history to a wider public, through schools, community and family workshops, talks, screenings, exhibitions & public events.
We operate on a project-by-project basis; Design & Build: The History of Crystal Palace Park was our pilot activity. We we worked with a range of participants of different ages and diverse backgrounds, who shared and learned their experiences of Crystal Palace Park.
Next we worked on No Corners Here, a project exploring the lived experienced of Milton Keynes’ contemporary, multi-ethnic population, and their thoughts on this pioneering New Town’s utopian ambitions, drawn in strict rectilinear design. As part of New Town Heritage Explorers our partners included Milton Keynes Council, Library and Global Outreach Foundation – a local charity fostering community support for those from African Diaspora heritage.
Available to book: Key Stage 3/ 4 Urban Design School – a creative workshop for schools applying the principles of design to the built environment. It will explore how streets and public spaces are designed by architects and urban planners, the impact of using different materials (glass, wood, stone) and technologies in the ‘public realm’ and how to communicate public aspirations for towns and cities
Our HALF TERM INTRO TO ARCHITECTURE took place at Artizan Library, E1 7AF on Weds 30th October – 1st November concentrating on the residents and visitors to Middlesex Street Estate E1. Due to funding from City of London Stronger Communities Fund we ran free drop in sessions at the Library which resulted in a two week light-based exhibition at the window of the library based on the facades of the estate and enchanting many passers-by in the dark winter evenings. A photo diary of the project is available here.
